There are a few spots left in two upcoming CDS Continuing Education classes:

Multimedia Storytelling Workshop
Thursday, March 7: 6–9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, March 8–9: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sunday, March 10: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Instructors Catherine Orr and Elena Rue, founders of the visual storytelling company StoryMineMedia, use a combination of critiques, hands-on learning, and screenings to give students an understanding of what multimedia is, where it is going, and how it can be used for powerful storytelling. The course will provide students with the skills to produce their own multimedia piece; a background in either photography or audio is helpful but not required. Students will learn the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro and will need a digital SLR camera and audio recorder. For more information and to register click here.

Anytown, USA
Wednesdays, March 6 to May 1, 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Filmmaker Randolph Benson leads this advanced seminar in which each student produces and edits an eight- to twelve-minute video on a topic of their choice based on an interesting small town or community in North Carolina. Students will be encouraged to explore genre, technique, form, and their personal artistic vision in creating their short documentary. At the end of the course the films will be screened in the community. Basic production experience suggested. Students must have access to a video camera, tripod, and a lavalier microphone. For more information and to register click here. To view last year’s projects click here.
