Writing the Documentary Script (Joshua Dasal)
Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
To create a documentary that’s coherent in post-production, you need a coherent pre-production process. One of the best ways to organize thoughts, explore new ideas, and more accurately plan for the logistics of production and funding is to write a documentary script. In this one-day workshop, students will learn to generate ideas; outline, write, and analyze a two-column documentary script; practice using script-writing software; and view and discuss examples of documentary and corporate video work as it translates from script to finished film.

The Art of Documentary Photography (G. Douglas Vuncannon)
Mondays, March 24–April 28, 6:30–9 p.m.
This course examines the proposition that every photograph is a self-portrait and explores how this idea can create friction as well as opportunity for the artist. Through assignments and classroom critiques, students will learn to identify elements of documentary photography that have the power to transcend the simple recording of images, as well as develop their own philosophy and artistic mandate.
