Enjoy!: Student Work from Harvey Stein’s Documentary Street Photography Workshop

On September 26–28, 2014, the Center for Documentary Studies once again hosted acclaimed photographer Harvey Stein for his annual three-day Documentary Street Photography workshop, first offered through our Continuing Education program in 2012. On Friday morning Stein explained his methods for capturing the intimate, expressive portraits for which he’s become known; students then chose strategic locations around Durham to photograph each other. On Saturday, the class documented the NC Pride Festival, held on Duke’s East Campus, just steps from our front porch. On Sunday, Stein led a discussion of the shoot and a group critique.
