On January 15, the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival‘s annual Winter Series of free screenings at the historic Carolina Theatre begins with Keep On Keepin’ On (click link to view trailer), a feature doc by first-time filmmaker Al Hicks. The film depicts the story of jazz legend Clark Terry, teacher and mentor to the most totemic figures in jazz history, highlighting his friendship with Justin Kauflin, a blind twenty-three-year-old piano prodigy with debilitating stage fright. Not long after Kauflin is invited to compete in an elite jazz competition, Terry’s health takes a turn for the worse, and the two friends confront the toughest challenges of their lives.

Thursday, January 15, doors at 7 p.m., screening at 7:30 p.m.
Fletcher Hall, Carolina Theatre
309 W. Morgan St., Durham, North Carolina
