“Hearing Is Believing” is a one-week continuing-education course offered every summer at the Center for Documentary Studies. Each July, 24 people come from across the country to learn the basics of audio documentary-making and to collaborate with a fellow participant in producing a short piece. This year the stories emerged from a collaboration between CDS and DurhamCares, a local initiative that supports a variety of nonprofit organizations.
