Tickets Going Fast for Third Annual Strange Beauty Film Festival, February 16–18 at Durham’s Manbites Dog Theater

The third annual Strange Beauty Film Festival will take place in Durham, North Carolina’s Manbites Dog Theater, 703 Foster St., February 16–18, 2012. The Festival, organized by CDS instructor Jim Haverkamp along with Joyce Ventimiglia, showcases strange and beautiful films, along with musical pieces from around the world and the Triangle.

Tickets are going fast!  Go to the Manbites Dog Theater website to purchase and for additional ticketing information–including day-of-show purchases; a full schedule is also on the website.

A special pre-festival event and several highlights so far include:

Saturday, February 11, 8 p.m.
“The New Obsolete,” a pre-festival installation by Invisible that features musical performance, video and visual art along with closed captioning by a live typist

Durham Cinematheque presents “FILMISTORY.2,” a film program by Tom Whiteside
Felix Obelix presents “Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend,” a musical score performed live by Wendy Spitzer and Billy Sugarfix

Saturday, February 18, 8:15 p.m.
Jennifer Deer presents “The Strange Beauty Aural Fixation,” a block of audio explorations
